BREAKING:
The long awaited decision in the ongoing FTC v. Wyndham Worldwide Corp federal district court case in New Jersey was issued last today by District Judge Salas. In brief Wyndham lost all three of its arguments presented and J. Salas denied its Motion to Dismiss.
We’re reviewing the entire 42-page decision, available here, for a more indepth post and discussion, but as very few FTC actions regarding data security and privacy matters ever go to trial (with most resulting in consent orders and stipulated agreements – see Cases and Proceedings) the Wyndham case has been closely watched by the information security community and professionals responsible for cybersecurity and associated GRC issues.
