The intricacies of copyrights and copyright law bedevils nearly everyone involved with creative pursuits or content generation/reuse.
While changes to copyright law are overdue in the opinion of many, the Copyright Office has released a draft third edition of its Compendium of Copyright Office Practices. The draft remains open for comment and revisions for one hundred and twenty days. Thereafter, upon finalization, it will represent the Copyright Office’s “bible” as it were.
The third edition of the Compendium focuses on making actions of the Copyright Office more transparent and accessible to the everyday public. As such the Compendium promises to be a substantial public resource for at basic information regarding copyright law and Copyright Office practices.
